A modern drug store called The British Dispensary was founded by Dr. Thomas Heyward Hays and a British pharmacist for distributing various imported pharmaceuticals products with full-time pharmacists. It’s Arrow - Struck Snake trade mark means prevention and cure sickness.

Dr. Luan, the ancestor of Vongvanij family, took over the drug store and expanded the business to be the authorized  distributors of many international brands such as Boots, Elizabeth Arden, Christian Dior and etc.

The legend of Snake Brand began, followed by Adora cosmetics, as high quality locally made products under a well – known slogan “Proudly…Thai Made”, then followed by Snake Brand baby antipyretic syrup, baby cough syrup,   baby cold-remedy, brown mixture cough syrup and St. Luke’s sport oil respectively.

The British Dispensary Co., Ltd. set up a factory named “ L.P. Standard Laboratories Co.,Ltd.” at San Chao Ched Lane, New  Road, Bangkok.

1982
L.P. Standard Laboratories Co., Ltd. expanded their production lines and built a new modern factory on Teparuk Rd.,  Samutprakarn Province to manufacture many high quality products. Since 1989, they have consistently received a Good   Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certificate from the Ministry of Public Health for 6 groups of pharmaceutical products: tablets,  solution – oral preparations, capsules, cream, powder and sterile preparations.

The distribution sector of The British Dispensary Co., Ltd. merged with L.P. Standard Laboratories Co., Ltd. as  a new company named “The British Dispensary (L.P.) Co., Ltd. with a registered capital of 60 millions baht, to operate production, made to order, distribution, import and export.

The company was certificated ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and was the first drugs and cosmetics manufacturer in Thailand to   receive these two certificates at the same time.
